The most notable event in the entire 100,000 years of Aragohm's known history is the near loss of magic. About 15,000 years ago a huge war erupted between three of the high races, the elves, dwarves, and men. The drakòn were at this time recovering from a devastating disease that vastly reduced their numbers. The magic used was without wisdom that comes with age and experience, as each race tried to draft as many mages into their numbers as possible. The result was catastrophic. The unbridaled magical energy threatened to destroy all of Aragohm through it's constant misuse. Believing that something drastic had to be done, the most powerful mages of all four races got together to rid magic from Aragohm. Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Drakòn created a spell that would not destroy or rid the land of magic, for that would tear the fabric of reality itself and assure the destruction of the land, but would instead redirect it into a number of different rings that have since been believed to be lost. One of the elven mages, treacherously, altered the spell at the last moment of which the consequences killed all the mages involved. The counterspell was lost because the only ones who knew it had just died, so magic was unable to fully return to the races of Aragohm. What the elf had done, instead of doing his part to drain the elves of their magic, had instead tied their magic to the trees. Thusly the elves were still able to call upon the magic they so depended on, even if it was far weaker than they had known. The elves change had some unforseen consequence, humans and dwarves could still be affected by magic, but the drakòn however are completly immune to it's affects. Also, dwarves and humans could still command a fraction of the magic that they once were able to, but only a single aspect and very few individuals were born with the ability. Humans could still command fire and dwarves earth. Elves had full command over plants, animals, and water. Drakòn however are unable to use magic, thusly they are immune to it's effects.
