History: Xanatos grew up in a small village at the edge of the human lands. His father was a dragon slayer of no renown and was intrusted with defending the border from the "demon" warriors. One day a rather large force of drakòn invaded the peaceful village and burned everything to the ground, killing Xanatos' father in the process. Horrified and devestated at the ferocity of the raid, Xanatos took refuge with the slayers vowing to avenge his father on the demons who pillaged his village and murdered his father. Quickly rising through the ranks due to the hot embers of hate giving him purpose, Xanatos was quickly recognized with an exceptional military career. Years passed and Xanatos served as a second in command in his squad. Hearing information that Maelstrom, the current king of the drakòn was roaming and vulnerable, his team was sent out to find and kill the demon king and all with him. Finding them late one night, they fell upon the drakòn as they rested in a small clearing. Recognizing the demon that had killed his father was none other than the drakòn king, he fought him single handedly, refusing all aid. Beaten and defensless, Maelstrom was bound and tortured in front of his son whom they were later going to kill after having him experience hopelessness and fear. Finally, sickened by the site of his superior's display of violent torture after an hour, he pleaded to just kill the demon and his whelps and be done with it.
Laughing horribly, his leader finally finished with Maelstrom and handed Xanatos his sword ordering him to finish the task himself. Gritting his teeth at the site of the horribly mutilated drakòn, he ended his life quickly. Retching into the bushes nearby, he tossed the sword to the ground, uncaring as to where it landed, which happened to be near Makaidos.
Before anyone could react, Makaidos broke the slayer's grip on him, snatched up the blade and slew the leader. The rest of Xanatos' group stood dumbly as they watched his headless corpse fall slowly to the ground, which allowed Makaidos to flee into the shadows of the forest. Giving chase, the slayers attempted to find him, but failed.
After they returned to their main base, their group was congratulated and Xanatos promoted to general. Fearful though of the drakòn keeping hope of Maelstrom's son surviving and replacing him as king, they spread word throughout the land that there were no survivors. More time passed and Xanatos heard that Makaidos had finally come out of hiding. The years afterword ensured that the two were part of a bitter rivalry with each seeking to kill the other, yet neither of them succeding as they fight was broken up or the other retreating. Xanatos vowed to do anything to kill Makaidos, and his time came when the king, whom he had grown close to, died without an heir. As Xanatos made sure the king had made him an adopted son, and made sure the people like him, he was gladly made king. Now Dragon-slayers are able to move about unhindered, even through other lands with the threat of killing emissionaries resualting in war. Xanatos now waits for Makaidos to show himself again.
